A study on antitoxic effects of Pachymae hoelen gaainst Cadmium

Abstract
|
|
|
This study was performed to find out the antitoxic effects of Pachymae hoelem against cadmium chloride poisoning. The experimental mice were divided into 4 group, and three dose groups of Pachymae hoelem. Each group was administered with different dose of Pachymae hoelem such as 0.1g, 0.5g, 2.5g/kg wet weight in pallets for four and eight weeks.
Cadmium chloride was administered by 200mg/kg body weight mouse per day of metallothionein after giving the challenge dose, cadmium, metallothionein concentractions and histopathological changes were determined.
The results were summarized as follows;
1. The combined administration of Pachymae hoelem and cadmium significantly more decreased cadmium concentration in kidney compared to the administration of cadmium only.(p〈0.05)
2. The combined administration of Pachymae hoelem and cadmium significantly more increased renal metallothionein compared to administration of cadmium only (p〈0.05)
3. When kidney and liver tissues were observed with as optical microscope, no obvious changes were visible in those tissues.
